Jérome Eertmans
PhD student in Differentiable Ray Tracing for Telecommunications.
Researches: Differential Ray Tracing for Telecommunications.
Majored in mechatronics. I undertook a variety of course topics: wireless communications, open source software, numerical simulations, digital design of ICs, mining pattern in data, etc., for a total of 112 % workload. Graduated Magna Cum Laude.
I took a major in electricity and a minor in mechanics. In 2017, I received a scholarship to sharpen my English at the Horner School of English, Dublin.
Currently working as a teaching assistant, aside my PhD. See teaching duties for more details.
I developed, with the help of my colleague Louis Devillez, a camera-based testbench for medical applications.
We used Raspberry Pi’s for the web interface and control, Dynamixel’s AX12 motors for camera positioning, and many 3D printed / laser cut pieces.
From Sep 2015 until Sep 2019: “Louveteaux” chief (8 to 12 years old), and responsible chief from September 2018 to July 2019.

I gave private courses, averaging 1 to 2 hours per week, to students aged from 12 to 19 years old. The fields I taught were: mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
HDL Developer for FPGA based application - I was in charge of implementing an algorithm for a client of LSM Conseil.
I helped the Personal and Health R&D team to enhance BLE product by developing software solutions to mitigate Wi-Fi interference and provide collision-free connection scheduling.
As part of the Unlock Student Success (USS) program, my role was to guide and help first year students in civil engineering studies to succeed their first year.
In classrooms of 20-30 peoples, I gave a wide variety of exercise sessions. You may find the complete list of courses in the teaching duties section.
Radar ray tracing software implementation: MATLAB to Python translation and optimisation.
Radar covering for various land cover. My role was to use public data in order to study the impact of land cover in the radio waves and to build tools around this.
Developped a website add-on for a client of LSM-Conseil. I worked with two colleagues on this project. We motsly programmed in JavaScript and HTML, using the Ionic framework.
I was asked to develop tools, in Python, that would minimize the conflicts in between the student’s exams. Also, I build a GUI to help the secretary visualize the schedule of all the exams. This was done building an custom Excel spreadsheet including colors and several sheets, via a simple user interface.
During summer vacation or for birthday parties, several times, I took the responsability of a small group of kids, aged from 6 to 13 years old, and taught them (new) sports such a moutain biking, roller, etc.

Junior Teaching Assistant is a student job that allows University students to give pratictal sessions for classes they have already passed. Most of the time, the job is limited to giving pratictal sessions but, as I got really involved into teaching, I also often did extra work that would benefit the students, see details.
